06/15/2003 Entry: "Which Dem?"

"Once again, the Bush Administration was faced with a choice:  tax cuts for those who need it least, or educational opportunity for millions of young Americans.  Once again, they chose tax cuts. With the economy in the tank, young people and adults need the best education and training to improve their job prospects.  As college tuition costs are rising and students are struggling to pay for education and training this formula change could not come at a worse time."

*snip*

"Despite the fact that the Administration tried to sneak through this bureaucratic rule change without giving the public or the Congress a role in the decision, the American people will not be so easily fooled.  They understand that they can have a $400 tax cut although as we now know, millions of working Americans will get no tax relief from the President's recent cuts or they can have access to resources to send their children to college.  It's that simple."
Which Dem said this?

"...the American people will not be so easily fooled."

Um... well, maybe not, but I have to ask: Are the American people that poorly informed or do they just not care anymore? Because if the American people really understood what this tax cut (and the last one and the next one) is going to do to them and the following generations, wouldn't they all be on the phone to their elected reps, telling them to stop the tax cuts?

I don't have children. I've always been glad that I didn't have children. Now I'm REALLY glad I don't have children. Thanks Ralph, thanks Katherine, thanks Jeb, you fuckheads.
