"Imagine how pissed the rightwing will be if all their money and effort goes to putting the first latino in the governorship of the largest state in the country. Hell, it could suddenly make Bustamante a viable candidate for vice-president, a nice nightmare scenario for the GOP worried about courting latinos."

No doubt about it. Being governor of California will do wonders for Bustamente. Look at the wonderful things that it has done for Gray Davis. Lay off the dope for little while and perhaps your thinking could become a bit more rational and realistic. Besides, Terry MaAulife has promised that no Democrat will run against Davis in the recall election. Sort of difficult for Bustamente to win an election without runnning unless he is able to get a ruling from the Florida Supreme Court.
