Flood the Zone!

This was fun! See you next Friday!

My letter and what came up after I hit send (ew)

This is my letter, which I hope is correct in more than spirit, sent to various newspapers that the bush reelection horror webpage made it so easy to send to:

The Bush tax policies are designed to punish the poorest and most helpless members of our society. The graduated income tax might not be the great leveler in our society, but it is what makes us a fair and progressive society. Or what used to be a fair and progressive society.

According to Molly Ivins in her January 30, 2003 column, the poorest fifth of our nation's taxpayers, with an average income of $7,946, have a cumulative tax rate of 18 percent (includes Social Security). The richest fifth, with an average income of $116,666, now pay 19 percent in cumulative taxes. One percent difference, how much more unfair can you get? Making the poorest among us pay for the lifestyles of the rich and famous in their gated communities? Ew! Well, if you will recall, the Bush tax plan lowers that 19 percent, as if it wasn't low enough before, not the rich pay more than the poor. Warren Buffet also pointed out once that with the removal of taxes on dividends, he was paying less in Federal taxes than his receptionist. He said that's not right, I agree with Warren.

This is unfair and un-American. Everyone is supposed to get a chance in the U.S. It's a rigged game, rigged for the rich against the poor, it's top-down class warfare and I say it stinks.

George W. Bush is the worst President, elected or otherwise, in the entire history of this country. Good riddance in 2004 (if not before), I can hardly wait!

Ginger Mayerson

And this is what pops up after you hit send:
