"Visitors to California parks next summer will pay record-high fees to camp at Cardiff, surf San Onofre or amble through Anza-Borrego.

"Saying it came down to a knotty choice between closing parks or raising fees, the Schwarzenegger administration yesterday announced dramatic hikes in day use and campground charges at California's vast network of 277 beach, desert and forest playgrounds.
"The new fee structure, effective July 1, will bring the cost of high-season camping, parking and picnicking in popular locations to levels never seen before in the state."

"Okay, let me get this straight: All Californian's now have to pay more to use public, tax-supported parks so car-owing Californians don't have pay the increased vehicle tax on their private property. Huh? Does that make you go "Huh?", too?
