11/15/2004 Entry: "Unexplained Exit Poll Discrepancy"

"Most Americans who listened to the radio or surfed the net on Election Day this year, sat down to watch the election night coverage expecting that John Kerry had been elected President. Exit polls showed him ahead in nearly every battleground state, in many cases by sizeable margins. As usually happens in close elections, undecided voters broke heavily toward the challenger, and the Democratic Party, possibly better organized and more committed than ever in their history, generated extraordinary turnout."
Unexplained Exit Poll Discrepancy, by Steven J. Freeman, Ph.D., University of Pennsylvania, November 10, 2004 (Thanks, William)

I don't kid myself that this wrong will be righted, we are living in the reign of witches after all. But I don't kid myself that bush won this election either, anymore than I kid myself that there's a damn thing I can do about. Except blog the data and hope history, at least, gets it right.
