Things that only happen to me.

Vell... um...

My villanelle, "Because I spent the rent", has been published in:

"TAPESTRIES, an Anththology," a book of writings by senior citizens 50 and over will be published, distributed, and sponsored by the LIFE program at Mount Wachusett Community College
Tapestries
(someday they'll update their website)

The, ah, odd part of this story is that when I submitted my poems, I didn't see the over 50 requirement. So when they accepted my poem and I read the blurb on the release, I had to call them, apologize for my error, and withdraw the poem. I also followed up with a letter. I thought it was all settled, and then today I got a very nice tear sheet.

I'm not over 50. Since when are people over 50 senior citizens? I thought that started at 65 or 70. 50 to 60ish is just extremely middle aged. So, I don't know how I feel about this. Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to geezerhood. I'm also very glad that poem got published (it's the one that most editors go "huh?" about, so thank God I can stop sending it out), but I'm only 44, merely very middle aged.

I blog this because I don't usually get to feel this weird about my poetry being published AND my age, so this has really hit a nerve.
