08/03/2005 Entry: "Kathy F kicks some rightwing chickenhawk ass"

"Right-wing blogs, Rush Limbaugh, and the Schmidt campaign scoffed at the tour of duty Hackett served, voluntarily. A member of the Select Marine Corps Reserve since 1992, he re-enlisted and served a seven-month tour in Iraq, just last year.

"But those who haven't the guts to put their own lives on the line, for a war they support, don't respect those who do. Rush Limbaugh, in a long conversation with a caller, repeatedly pointed out that, as a civil affairs officer, 'Hackett didn't actually see combat in Iraq.' He referred to him as a 'staff puke.' (Not only offensive, but wrong. Hackett did see combat, in Fallujah.)

"The drugs have obviously addled Rush's brain, or maybe it's that "pilonidal cyst" acting up. Most officers don't see 'actual combat', which he would know had he bothered to enlist or become commissioned himself. The vast majority of the soldiers and marines killed in Iraq have been from the enlisted ranks, young men and women barely old enough to drink legally, or seasoned sergeants with families back home they'll never see again."

Here, here!

The rightwing nuts have drowned out whatever morality and decency they might have once had with this bullshit.

Bravo, Mr. Hackett! I wish there were more like you. You put up a helluva fight and if it wasn't psycho Ohio, you'd have won. Maybe you can run for Governor. I believe Ohio will be ready for a new one next election.

You know, it's going to take every veteran and active service Military, and their families and their friends to turn this country around. When, I ask you, when are they going to get sick of the disrespect, horror, and disgrace the rightwing has heaped on them in merely five years? How much are they really willing to give to a government and political ideology that throws decent men and women into a meat grinder in Iraq and Afghanistan and smears their honorable record when they get back? Where will they draw the line and say, "enough already"? How they do that is easy: they just have to stop voting Republican and quit listening to hate radio.

Don Rumsfeld and other members of the WH have to sneak into Iraq for quick, heavily guarded visits, and the wingnuts call them heroes.

A guy actually serves there and he's called a puke.
