Made in America."] 07/24/2006 Entry: "Assembly Joint Resolution 39 to impeach gw bush" California Assemblyman Paul Koretz, 42nd district, (West Hollywood), introduced Assembly Joint Resolution 39 earlier this year, which if passed, would set the impeachment process in motion from the state level. More here, including petitions to sign, and contacts: http://www.impeachca.com/page/page/3468534.htm [More] Jackie Goldberg has been our Assembly rep here in the 45th District, but is termed out. She is one of six co-authors of the resolution. Kevin DeLeon just won the primary race and will run for her seat in November. Today I emailed his office to find out whether he will support AJR39, as Goldberg did, and campaign on the issue. His campaign literature focuses on education, environment, etc, but I told him nothing he will do in the Assembly will have more impact on our children's future than the potential impeachment and removal of Bush and Cheney. If he has no position, I will be trying to convince him to support AJR39. If you are in this district and want to work with me on this, let me know. It is important to let all our Assembly reps know that we want them to support this resolution and move it forward. There was hesitation among moderates that support for it would jeopardize bi-partisan work on other issues, but now that the state budget has been passed, that may not be so important. A few weeks ago at the California State Democratic Convention, there was an impeachment forum, and the Party subsequently passed a unanimous proclamation on April 29, 2006, as follows: The California Democratic Party calls for the immediate investigation of the President and Vice President of the United States for committing the following alleged acts: 1. Misleading Congress and the American public about an unproven and unrealized threat to national security by Iraq in order to justify war thereby violating the federal anti-conspiracy statute and the False Statement Accountability Act. 2. Ordering the National Security Agency to conduct electronic surveillance of American citizens without seeking warrants from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court of Review, as required by law. 3. Violating the "Federal Torture Act" Title 18 United States Code, Section 113C and the UN Torture Convention and the Geneva Convention, which are U.S. law under Article VI of the U,S. Constitution. 4. Ordering indefinite detention of accused persons without access to legal counsel, without charge, and without the opportunity to appear before a civil judicial officer to challenge the detention, all in violation of U.S. law and the Bill of Rights. ### Time to do the right thing Kevin, hey?
