Feingold tests waters for possible 2008 presidential run Fuck you, Russ, and thanks for Ashcroft. And where the hell were you on the Condi Rice vote? Nowhere, and that's where your presidential bid is as far as I'm concerned. Frankly, I'm so angry with most Dems right now, unless they voted AGAINST Condi Rice, there's not a chance in hell they're going to get my vote. Barbara Boxer for President!

http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europe/01/28/auschwitz.cheney.reut/index.html They told Cheney he was going to camp, so he wore his parka (with his name embroidered, in case he got lost in the woods and the bears wanted to return him), and his ski cap and his hiking boots. The camp was Auschwitz, and the event was the 60th anniversary of its liberation. In the group picture he's surrounded by solemn, black-clad Europeans. And then there's Dick Cheney. The embarassment load is getting kind of heavy, you know? People of the world, I'm sorry.

"LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A suicidal California man could face the death penalty for triggering a rail crash that killed 11 people, authorities said on Thursday, and they described a possible copycat attempt by another depressed driver." California Train Wreck Spawns Possible Copycat Bid, by Jill Serjeant, Reuters, January 27, 2005 Oh, for God's sake. If you want to check out rather than get help, use a gun, use a rope, but leave other people out of it. Well, here's an idea for the suicidal set: Oh, and the death penalty for that crazy man? Talk about State Assisted Suicide. If you really want him to suffer, keep him in Folsom or wherever for the rest of his life. Gives "sentenced to life" a new meaning. C'mon, folks, we're all just trying to get to work and get on with our lives. If you must die in your car then drive off a deserted cliff in Malibu; it's the same result, it's just you and your car, and you can enjoy the view on the way down.

Army Plans To Keep Iraq Troop Level Through '06 120,000 or more active duty troops? Without a draft? And every day our soldiers occupy Iraq, scores of new people hate the U.S.; those who already hate it, hate it more. Bring our troops home now. At least we want them here.

Does anyone understand today's Alien Loves Predator and can you explain it to me in the comments? Thanks. I have a cold, maybe that's why I didn't get it. Half a bottle of cough syrup later... EDIT: Oh, wait, I think I get it, the key is the word "gullible." Yesssss... yesssss... zzzzzzz

"Unprecedented times call for unprecedented actions. In this case, we, the undersigned bloggers, have decided to speak as one and collectively author a document of opposition. We oppose the nomination of Alberto Gonzales to the position of Attorney General of the United States, and we urge every United States Senator to vote against him." No on Gonzales, Daily Kos, January 25, 2005. I'm looking at you, Senator Feinstein. Here's where to find Senator's contact information. Write/call/fax/email - DO something because things are bad enough without Tomás de Torquemeda as the nation's top cop.

You gave each guest the benefit of the doubt, and in this way you exemplified an American ideal: you're nuts but you're welcome here. Steve Martin's Johnny Carson Eulogy All I have to add to that is Hi-Yo!

"Another active member of the name society brings an entirely different perspective. Laurel Sutton is still a doctoral candidate at UC Berkeley in 'an obscure part of phonetics that only my adviser and I care about,' but she has managed to parlay her knowledge of linguistics and passion for names into a business. Sutton is a founder of Catchword, a San Francisco naming firm that works with companies to name products, create taglines and revamp brand structures." NAME GAMES. The semantics of sexuality. Academics analyze names for drag queens and porn stars at Oakland conference, by Reyhan Harmanci, Special to The Chronicle, Sunday, January 23, 2005 Our Laurel.

"The programme reportedly conducts operations in friendly and unfriendly states where conventional war might not even be a distant prospect. It deploys intelligence officers, including linguists, technical specialists and interrogators, alongside secret special forces in countries such as Somalia, Yemen, Indonesia, the Philippines and Georgia, the Washington Post said." Pentagon spy network revealed, by Dan Glaister in Los Angeles, Monday January 24, 2005, The Guardian Oh, fuck, the American Gestapo and SS, and they've been in operation for two years. Well, fuck, why not? Congress, except for Barbara Lee, gave away their oversight of anything important with the Patriot Acts and the Intel Overhaul act. "...Somalia, Yemen, Indonesia, the Philippines and Georgia..." and, of course, the United States. Yeah. This should scare the hell out of the Right, too, but it doesn't; they think it will never be used against them. They're wrong. And you heard it here first.

Where does Something Awful find these... these things? Scroll down to Awful Link of the Day. I'm even afraid to direct link to the religious site from here. These people are scary. I like the carrot musicians, though.
