Amusing things you can do with a Thor doll (sorry, action figure) and Flickr: Thor Rolls a Joint (via One Good Thing) I think Thor wasn't the only one high that evening.

"In a comment on Academy of the Overrated, Roxanne Cooper noted, ironically, that, 'In nearly every [Star Trek] episode/ movie, they violate the prime directive for the greater good.' "Definitely true, at least when it comes to the original series. In fact, it's a running joke among fans who have speculated that in the future, that is, in the time of Next Generation and Voyager, Star Fleet and the Federation have instituted dozens of regulations probably known as Kirk Rules specifically designed to prevent starship captains from boldy going where no one has gone before as boldly as Kirk went there." Liberalism as a violation of the Prime Directive, Lance Mannon, August 8, 2005 Why would one need a life when one has Trek?

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the meanest librarian with a blog I know of. Maybe a new line of work or another area of the field is in order here. Not kidding, see here, here, and here* just for starters. Mocking people who need your help strikes me as not only unprofessional, but kind of sick. If patrons can't ask the librarian stupid questions then we live in a much sadder world than even I'd imagined. *This one seems especially mean. If the guy is unemployed and waiting for internet time at the library, he's probably looking for work. Does this librarian not realize, or just not care, how soul-crushingly hard it is to look for work without internet access? Where I work you can't even apply for a position without being online and being able to upload your resume to their evil HR interface.

Yahoo now bigger than Google, Electricnews.net, August 9, 2005 (via RawStory) Proof (of sorts) Yahoo : Results 11 - 20 of about 3,150 for "Ginger Mayerson" - 0.29 sec. Google: Results 1 - 10 of about 775 for "Ginger Mayerson" (0.11 seconds) Guess it's back to Yahoo. And Yahoo isn't hiring neo-con monsters either.
